I need to run about 10m of 5v power to a webcam. I haven't been able to find a usb extension cable so far, needs to be USB A to USB micro.

If I have to make one, what gauge of wire should I use for that length?

Get a DC to DC that outputs 5v at the camera end and stick 12v up the cables and anything will be fine within reason.  Like this one, which I use for raspberry pi's.

There are ones that will take higher voltages, but chances are you have a wallwart from an old HDD or some other obsolete piece of gear lying around.
