Looking at purchasing an electric longboard (preferably a boosted board) and was just wondering if anyone else has one. Would it be useful to ride in a suburban setting like Palmerston North?

Cheers,

Tom.

I've got a mate who has an electric long board (Evolve Carbon I think) and he swears by it. Zips to and from work daily without any issues. Also lives in Palmerston Nth. Has only had 1 crash on it...was being a clown and yeah.

Sometimes clown mode comes uninvited. I was passed by a guy doing something on his phone. When he went to put the phone in his pocket the board took off dumping him. He'd pocket dialled turbo mode on some associated app.

I looked at the Evolve boards and though they look good I really like the reliability and appearance of the Boosted Board. It's great to hear that there is an electric longboard rider in Palmerston North though.

Yeah, from memory he's got the chunky off road wheels as they handle the uneven streets and sidewalks better. Living in Cloverlea he zips into town and back with plenty of juice left. Has even been out to Longburn and back. He can't rate it highly enough.

Thats great! Do the off road wheels work best on chip sealed roads? I live rather near to the CBD (Hokowhitu) so it's only about 25 meters of chip seal until I hit smooth tarmac.

With the off road wheels, he did say it reduces the top speed and range slightly (can't remember off the top of my head by how much) but the advantages outweigh those reductions. I had a go and it seemed plenty fast enough for me hahahaha. He didn't mention how they worked on chip seal vs smooth tarmac. Lets just say his only accident had nothing to do with the road conditions 😅

I think I saw your friend on Rangitikei St. around the square. Board looked fun to ride! I think I may end up getting the Boosted Board Plus or Stealth.

Some decent clearance deals on the slightly older evolve boards have me tempted by this idea too; both for commute and pleasure. Had a lot of fun on a couple of friends electric boards in the past.  And for commute I quite like the idea that I could hop in the bus if needed - can't really do that with most e-bikes (I mean the boards aren't small but they seem more convenient than pretty much all e-bikes and even most e-scooters seem pretty unwieldy when folded up)

Have not tried a boosted board but heard good things.  Only issue in the past was availability in NZ...  though I see hyperride has them now.

Just purchased my Boosted Board Stealth off HyperRide this morning! Will post a quick review on it here shortly when it arrives. It's currently at a very similar price to the Boosted Plus so I would highly recommend buying now!
