I've got myself a Nest Hello doorbell and I got a sparky mate to wire it up. He installed a 24V transformer into my switchboard, ran alarm cable about 10m to my doorbell and fitted a 1.0a fuse to the transformer.

My problem now is the fuse blows every time someone presses the doorbell. It will run fine for days as long as no one touches it. The doorbell is only supposed to be drawing 0.6a though isn't it? I have tried a low blow fuse but that still blows a few seconds after the doorbell has been rung.

I have seen other here have had theirs setup fine. Is there anything I'm missing? Is there a certain transformer I need? What is your setup?

Cheers.

They are made to go inseries with a doorbell normally, when the button is pressed they short the wires to make the old fasioned doorbell go dingdong. When helping a friend put in their no name bell in the same situation there was a jumper to choose if you had an existing doorbell or not, if there is the same on the nest then it needs to be changed.

Nevermind, I've fixed it. I had the setting for an indoor chime, which I am not using, set on the app.

Hi n Merry Christmas!

I'm keen on getting a Nest Hello - just wondering where did you source yours from?  It doesn't seem that retailers stock them here (only other Nest products - not the Nest Hello).

Yes if you aren't using a chime you must disable this otherwise you will pop fuses every press of the button, or if you have no fuses it will load up the PSU

Hi all, I've got a Nest doorbell ready to install but am coming up short on the bell transformer front.  Of course there are endless 110v choices from Amazon etc, but nothing that clearly fits the bill for NZ (16V AC–24V AC, 10VA transformer).  The doorbell will be located very close to the main switchboard, so I thought something like this from Schneider would fit the bill, but it is 25VA and my electrical knowledge is so limited that I have no idea whether that matters or not.  Ideally, I want to avoid something that plugs into a plug socket, as that would be a pretty messy solution, so something that can either be mounted on the switchboard or inside a wall would be best.  I was hoping that someone that has already installed one of these doorbells here may be able to give me a heads up as to the bell transformer they used and where they purchased it from?

Kind regards,

Aaron.

That Schnider one will work perfectly just get your sparky to mount it in the board and connect it up.

You can pre-configure the doorbell by plugging it into a USB charger and turn off the internal chime setting  and then all you have to do is mount it at the door.
