Spotted a Philips Hue Smart Socket in Noel Leamings yesterday.

https://www2.meethue.com/en-nz/p/hue-smart-plug/8718699689346

Marketed towards controlling lamps that won't take screw-in bulbs but apparently its rated for 10A/2300W which is way beyond what you'd need for lighting.

Has anyone tried one out yet?

Just got an email from Phillips linking to this: https://www2.meethue.com/en-nz/p/hue-smart-plug/8718699689346?origin=3_nz_en_hue-smart-plug_elq-b2c_hue_1708_h1_art1_btn

Exciting! What was the price at NL?

It was about $65.

So roughly about the same price as the TP Links smart plugs.

More expensive than the Xiaomi plugs but at least you know it's certified.

I'm interested to know if it can be controlled outside the Hue app in Home Assistant, whether any additional functions like energy monitoring are exposed and whether it plays nice as a Zigbee repeater.

I might buy one to play around with if the Hue range gets a Labour Day weekend discount at NL.

Pricing is not bad.

I would also be interested in HA compatibility and would only ever consider buying one to be used by Home Assistant. I have about 25 Hue Bulbs and almost never use the Hue App... HA FTW!

Do keep us up to date if you end up buying one :-)

Cheers

That is a lot more than the bunnings sockets which are now corrected to $72 for the 4 pack from memory.
