Received an email from meet the hue,

'Your Hue Bridge was reset to factory defaults and has been disconnected from your Hue account'

The email passes SPF and DKIM so seems to be a genuine email.

Have logged into my hue account and yes indeed by hub has gone from my account.

I'm at work at the moment so cant check the device. There is nobody home that would reset the device.

Has anyone experienced this?

No, but since you still have the device it should be pretty easy to reconnect it to your account.

And, obviously, change your account password now.

Well we hope that he still has the device...

Hue was pretty bad how when I returned my set back when I got one, it emailed me that my bridge was registered to another email address and gave me all the details of the new account. Got that about 2 weeks after returning it.
