The price is good - Mightyape lists those for an extra $10 currently but they do have some cheaper watch devices (exercise trackers mainly).
You won't find anything that place calls at that price range - that kind of feature will make price go up to upper three digits or more.

For a nine-year-old? Couldn't you DIY one with a plastic watch case, a 5050LED, a resistor, and a coin cell? That'd give her 95% of the functionality at no financial risk to yourself.
