I'm in the process of renovating part of our house and we were looking at some dumb motion sensors but I have come across these Aeotec smart sensors which will monitor more than just motion.

https://www.fusionautomation.co.nz/product/857/

One of the rooms we are doing is a bathroom so I wondered if we could use this to control a (dumb) fan if the humidity rises and to switch the light on if it was dark, put the underfloor heating on if it is cold etc.  If you can, how do we do it?  are there other Aeotec devices that can be used to control underfloor heating & the extractor fan?  If so, what would you recommend?

Thanks

Andy

Not sure about underfloor heating. There are relays. All depends on the voltage. .

The multisensor is zwave. Which means it needs a controller, either a usb stick or a device like a Vera. Is using the usb stick something needs to be able to read it, ie openHAB or home assistant

I have a controller coming.  The floor is 240v 16A so I suspect too much for most controllers. (https://www.warmfloornz.com).  I presume I could use a nano dimmer to control the fan via the hub via rules, if the humidity is greater than... if there is motion in the bathroom and it is dark, put the lights on, etc.  Dimmer may even control fan speed as I assume that would work in a similar way to dimming a light.  I was struggling to find a humidistat to use with a fan so this may just be what I'm looking for, assuming it can work as I am planning it to.

I went for a Homey in the end as I had a look at OpenHAB and HA but decided I wanted something simpler to program as I don't have the time to learn how do it myself (or possibly the skills either!).

Cheers

A

I think the main advantage with oh and ha is the number of people using them. Ha is especially popular around gz. Those of us on oh tend to be less populous.

I haven’t crossed them off the list completely and I may go back to them if Homey doesn’t deliver. I just don’t currently have time to set it all up so have gone for something that appears quicker to get up and running.

I would have thought home assistant with a single device would be pretty quick.  And I found the automations too simple for me, but I prefer the code style openHAB ones.
