I have just installed my first Aeotec nano dimmer and paired it to my z wave hub. It is attached to a single switch for a light with 6x2.5w dimmable leds. There are only two attes, fully on or slightly dimmed. I have a two wire setup. Both wires are red and one has a black stripe on it. I used a multimeter to determine the red was the live wire and that is in the L on the dinner with a bridge to N as per the Aeotec instructions. S1 has the other switch wire in it and the red-black is in the third port on the dimmer.

Where am I going wrong?

I've been battling with a Dual Nano Switch for the last few months, and still haven't got the damn thing working reliably. Nevertheless, I have learnt a few useful lessons:

Run the latest firmware, for the Nano Dimmer this looks to be v2.03.
Set the correct external switch mode, its meant to be automatic, but my Nano Switch needed to be manually set.
Ensure the hub is well within range of the switch, mine wasn't and cause numerous problems for me getting a successful pairing.

Thanks for the above. Have done all of those things and then taken it out. I suspect my issue is that I only had 15w across the dimmer so will give it another go with a higher load when I get the chance.

Most of the no neutral switch solutions need a capacitor across the load to get enough current to run the switch without causing the load to also run. Or pop an incandesent lamp in there which will pass current without lighting up, and limit the voltage to below what the LEDs need to glow.

What is talking to your nano? As in the controller? Vera, Home Assistant, OpenHAB, Open Zwave?

Here's all the parameters according to the openhab device database - https://www.cd-jackson.com/index.php/zwave/zwave-device-database/zwave-device-list/devicesummary/576 Should list all the channels. I see switch is depreciated, but there's a switch all Which should be your on off. Again the controlling software/hardware should determine this.

I have a Homey, I know I should have listened to you and got the Vera.

Seems to work Ok but my naivety with Home Automation is what’s hindering me. Should be able to do what I want with it once the renovations are don’t though I may need some resistors to increase the load on the dimmers.
