Hi Everyone

I have reset my paradox alarm sp6000.

I have set time users and codes.  But when i arm the system and set a zone off.

fire alarm goes off.  It doesn't matter which zone.  All make the fire alarm go off on codepad.

I have no smoke detectors wired into the system, and far as im aware i haven't set any zones

to be a fire zone.  Only have 7 Instant zones and 1 follow in zone definions

I have read the programming guide a number of times, can't seem to find what i have missed

Cheers

You may have defined a zone as 12 or 24 in the zone programming guide. Are you using the quick steps to code the zones or are you using the programming menu (enter, installation code, 001 for zone 1 etc)

You dont want to use definition 08 for PIRs - you want definition 10. The reason for this is as soon as a PIR is activated the alarm will go off whether or not the system is armed [if you use definition 08]

Try entering zones like this (after resetting) if you are still having issues

a) (Installer Code)

b) 0 1  (2 digit zone number)

c) [enter] (assuming hardwired zone, otherwise press tamper on wireless zone - pressing and holding sleep here will delete the zone)

d) 1 0  (2 digit zone definition)

e) 1 (lit up by default already, skip if only 1 partition)

f) [enter]

g) (brings you back to zone selection, start at b) again, but enter 0 2 or 0 3 etc)

Once you are done in this menu press clear

Look up "installer quick menu" in the programming guide for these instructions in the book

After a few tweaks !! Taking some things off default!! I have system up and running!! And reporting!!
Still have a couple minor tweaks to do!!
System not reporting fire alarm, but Top hat and codepad, sound and say fire ?
And a more simple one!! Take force arm option out!! Only arm system by code!!

System has outside siren, Top hat, codepad, reed switch and 7 PIRs

If your alarm goes off if not armed it'll only be a fire alarm, the diff between 08 and 10 is if you want to arm say the garage and not the house you use 08 in garage pir and 10 for the rest in the house, in your definitions, 08 means instant armed in stay, sleep or full arming, 10 means instant only when full armed and bypassed in stay and sleep, force arming by keypad button or with code?

08 will arm an input device whether the system is armed or not. It's often used for panel and siren tampers. You would usually use definition 01/02 for stay/sleep arming - 10 being an example of instant activation on full arming only while 01/02 give keypad audible warning during stay/sleep/arm

No it won't it'll only alarm if you use double end resistors and program it for it, definitions 1 and 2 are different from 8 and 10, entry delay and instant are different, the difference between 08 and 10 is it'll not arm in stay and sleep at all

I did assume double end resistors because that's the securest way of configuring PIRs.
