I put together a DHT 11 and D1 mini to record temperature and send to Home Assistant. I have both components in a small 3d-printed case but the heat from the D1 mini is affecting the readings.

I read that you need to put the D1 mini into deep_sleep mode and I found some Python?? code here to do that but how can I put that into the D1 mini using ESPHome?

I could move both components into separate cases but if I can fix it with some code that would be preferable.

Thanks.

Nice. I've not managed to get my DHT shield to work for some reason.

What is your case specification?

Actually I may have found a better case design that keeps the two components separated. I am going to print one and see how it performs. I would still like to know how to insert that sleep code though if anyone can assist.

How much does it cost to print a case like this (the last one). I’ve had some dhts running for a couple of years now (homie mqtt to openHAB). But I just bluetack the board to a leg somewhere to try and keep it out of sight

If you are using someone elses code on it, they would need to have allowed for deep sleep in their stuff.

Tasmota has support for it because of battery powered devices being useless without it. I havent done it because all mine are mains powered but there is support for it. Needs a hardware connection to the reset pin from one other.

@richms OK thanks, I will try the other case design then, sounds easier.

@davidcole Only a few cents for the filament. If you are interested I can print an extra one for you to try, just pay postage.

Auckland. Bare in mind that case is for the non-shield version of the 22. Have a look at his website for more info. If you want one pm me, going to print one tomorrow.
