Is that a question or a statement?

Why bother, you'd probably get better sound from your phone speaker!

Will only help if there is an optical on the computer, not everyone keeps their old PCs around. I had to use my xbox to see what was on a disc a while back.

And the Kalista Dreamplay One may be the most expensive boombox you can buy. Or at least that's the CD player portion, you then need to add two $300,000 amps (for stereo) and $500,000 speakers.

I love audio woo-woo :-).

I really dont get point of spending insane amounts to play CD's..... CD's are not the best sounding format, just better than others really :) If a crap master has been made, your $1m stereo ain't gonna help except show up the faults ;)

There isnt much better than it, very few things made in higher sample rates that are available, sure some on tidal is but thats rare among the releases and not a real higher sample rate thing, its using some compression thing that either needs a PC to decode or an expensive DAC.

Also there is no benifit in more bits on the end media unless you are listening at absurd levels that you cant in an urban area in anycase.

Two things, a combination of magical thinking, if you pay six to seven figures for your sound system it has to sound better, and you're buying membership into an exclusive club, just like paying $200,000 for membership to a golf club that you'll never play at.

It's also endlessly entertaining to geeks who love tweaking the audio nutters. One popular stunt, although it's been done to death by now, is to take the crappiest audio setup you can possibly assemble and blind-test it against the most woo-woo setup you can get your hands on. Since even a relatively cheap setup from within the last 20-30 years has been capable of producing reasonably decent sound, you typically get no-one able to pick which is the expensive setup.
