I really like the look of these, but am not sure if they're worth the $400 odd to setup a 9 piece starter kit.

Some questions:

  • Does anyone have any of these?
  • What's your experience been with them?
  • Have they been a nice addition to your house?
  • Have you used the music visualiser at all?
  • How many did you buy and what configuration do you have them in?

I'd be buying them to give my room a bit of life and colour- during my awake hours only of course and being switched off while I sleep.

Watched a video on them a while back:

Seems a bit of an expensive gimmick. If you want a souped-up light organ, get a Muzio at a fraction of the cost. Even then, you're probably going to get tired of living in a disco fairly soon...

Thanks for the suggestion, but the Muzio isn't quite the aesthetic I was going for.

I think I'll see if I can find some Nanoleaf kits on sale... you can configure the brightness etc., which will be great for when you don't want it "in your face". Looking at that video, I think they kinda reinforce why I want them haha. They change up the room a bit imo, certainly from the bland setup I have at the moment!

We bought a 9-piece starter kit for our adult son as a Christmas present for his home a couple years ago. A bit expensive but I got it on a sale at PB Tech. Very cool - he loves it and so do I. Have been thinking of getting some for my man-cave-room where the PS5 lives. Watching this thread with interest.

Since we bought his, I believe there are other kits available now with different shapes from the original triangles.

Thats good to know!

Just had a look - JB Hifi and Noel Leeming have them on sale for 25% off at the moment! Both the Hexagon and Triangle kits, plus all other accessories/kits

It doesn’t have to be like living in a disco - you don’t have to have them flashing. If I buy a set, I wouldn’t care if it didn’t have the rhythm module because I’d never use it - I probably wouldn’t even use the animation effects available in the app. I see it as being an alternative to a room light or table lamp. The Muzio is a very different product and the two products are not ‘apples and apples’.

Recently realised that Nanoleaf put out a new product late last year - called Lines.

Again, not cheap but NL have 9-piece starter kits for $304 - versus $380 everywhere else. They also have 15-piece packs for $448  - versus $560 elsewhere.

I think I would prefer Lines over their earlier panel or tile products because, rather than an illuminated panel, the Lines stand off the wall and shine onto it - so you see more-subtle reflected light rather than direct light.
