Chargers are readily available to accommodate rechargeable batteries of cylindrical and those 9V matchbox types, BUT is there a universal charger for those thin, flat batteries (li-on) often found in cameras etc?

 

Most are charged using USB cables, but can cost more than the item itself if/when the USB port breaks.

Yes, they exist. I got one from the $2 shop some time back. You just have to know which terminals are the power which is usually labeled. It just had a clamp to hold the cell and 2 contacts to line up with the right terminals.

If you prefer a mains-powered charger, I use one of these:

 

hahnel-unipal-plus-universal-charger

 

It also charges 2x AA/AAA NiCD/NIMH cells.
