Just bought a Rasp Pi power supply. It has a USB-C connector which must be for a later model. Mine uses a Micro USB (at least I think it is - same as a phone charger). Does anyone know if I can get a adapter ? Or even a wired female socket for the USB-C plug ?

Seems you bought the Raspberry pi 4 adapter instead of the Micro USB adapter.

You need Female USB-C to Male Micro USB Adapter. or take it back and buy the right cable...

Yes I know!

Hence asking here about an adapter.  Nothing at pbtech or Jaycar. Of course I could just cut the plug off and make something but seems a shame to butcher it.

Will be cheaper to just return it and grab what you need.
You should be able to run a 3B+ off a decent phone charger if you're not doing anything too crazy processing wise.

Jaycar sell dedicated power supplies for Raspberry Pi's with micro USB connectors. They output 5.1v, which means you don't get the "low voltage" warnings you'll most likely encounter when using generic 5v USB phone chargers etc.

Out of all the USB phone chargers I had lying around, none could provide voltage high enough to make the warning message disappear, even though they could supply more than enough current required. So I bit the bullet and went for the proper power supply, albeit a third-party one.

Most USB cables are extremely thin, so that only increases the voltage drop seen at the RPi itself.

Thanks for the info...  yes, they do have them but at twice the price of pbtech. $27 against $13.

I cut off the plug and made a wee extension lead to micro usb. All up and running fine.
