I'm looking to fit a lock on a passage door, either traditional or a smart lock. I preferably want something that won't require major modification to the door as I may need to put the original handle back on. Here is a pic of the current handle: https://www.mediafire.com/view/fj71gsymcyyqas2/Door.jpg/file Can anyone help?

Interesting. I've got some similar doors in our house and the had to re-drill the holes to put bigger lockable units in.

I'll be keen to see what you can find out.

What units did you get and was much modification required?

Looks like a standard mounting, just go to the hardware store with your current handle and make sure the one you buy lines up. Something else in the same range but with a lock would be easiest to avoid drilling more holes.

Have a talk to someone at joinery hardware. they seem to be able to solve almost anything :)

I replaced the internal door lock to our garage with a digital lock - https://www.mitre10.co.nz/shop/sylvan-mechanical-digital-lock-60mm/p/351094

It means I don't need a key when entering the house from the garage yet the house is still secure.
