Any ideas of where to get hold of a power supply for the above machine that my wife uses? On body of machine says DC 18v/2a and + CNTR. Have googled and was hoping Jaycar might have, but not immediately apparent. Would prefer to source in NZ to keep wife happier with quick delivery.
Thanks in advance

Should look at laptop power supplies and put your own barrel connector on to match the machine. They are usually 19v not 18v, but I wouldn't think that would matter.

First google result: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/computers/cables-adaptors/power/listing/3147157647

The 2A is a minimum

There might be cheaper but that should give you a start. The listing doesn’t show polarity but it’s not hard to wire on a new plug.

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.

That's a standard laptop power supply with a centre-positive connector, which virtually all are anyway. So anything off Trademe, as long as the barrel jack is the right size.

Thanks for the replies, so am I correct in surmising that as long as voltage is 18v and amp is somewhere in the range of scout 2 -3 amps should be Ok? Don't want to blow up swmbo pride and joy....I'm happy to do a bit of soldering for the plug, but a bit worried about the electronics part.

Should be fine, for example this Cricut replacement OEM power supply off Amazon is just a standard 45W laptop power supply (the 45W is what gives it the odd rated output current of 2.37A). The only thing to check is whether it's a 5.5/2.5 or 5.5/2.1mm barrel jack, but worst case you can get an adapter plug from Jaycar to convert one to the other.

As long as the Voltage is correct, then just ensure that the Amps are higher than 2 then you will be fine,

You could run it on a 10 amp supply fine, as long as the supply can meet the demand from the device it will be OK .. (you blow up power supplies when you put too much load on them, you won't kill a device by giving it access to more current, it will only take what it needs)
