So i was at the gym earlier and was putting my gym bag + wallet in the locker, and then locked it with my good old normal padlock (aka padlock and key). While i was working out it crossed my mind that every time I work out I have my phone & earphones (for the good old workout tunes 🙂), as well as my Gym Towel and keys.

It got me thinking whether i could reduce the clutter and get a sort of a Bluetooth/Smart kind of padlock that I could use to lock my gear, using my phone or smart watch to unlock it.

Looking on amazon there are a few types out there, but before taking a gamble and buying a random one, I was wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with a smart padlock before, and what are their thoughts and recommendations?

Some of the ones I have seen on amazon are:

This is probably not very helpful but LockpickingLawyer has a very dim view of fingerprint padlocks

P.S if you're in Invercargill we should meet for coffee or something sometime...

Or any kind of electronic lock in general. However since you can open most padlocks in seconds with a shim, I don't think a Bluetooth-openable padlock will be that less secure.
