How do you keep your nuc running during a power cut? Mine is a 12v unit drawing 10w. I got a small battery backup unit for it that keeps it going about 15 minutes which is fine to handle the transient outages we frequently get but I need something that will keep it running through a longer break ie up to 2 hours. I already have a 12v 7Ah battery and a car charger that is unused, can i repurpose these somehow?

The problem isn't the NUC, it's the switches / router / wireless APs / alarm system etc that you need to keep it running. No point having the NUC online if it has nothing to talk to.

I personally have an Eaton UPS, which I'm then monitoring with NUT. Bonus points for Home Assistant being able to monitor how much power the Home Automation / Networking systems are using.

I work for a global Data Protection Software company - But my opinions are my own.

I appreciate that but I just want to keep the nuc powered so that when power is restored everything will come back online when I am away from the house. If the nuc powers down it has to be manually restarted.

You should be able to change the setting in the BIOS/Firmware in the Power Management settings that turns the NUC back on after a power cut.

Otherwise if it's really super important run it off a Goal zero or other "solar generator". Have the solar generator plugged into the mains and then run the NUC off the solar generator. If it's only pulling 10w you could run it for days.

Something like this?

There are cheaper ones available, just have a look on Trademe.
