Hi All,

Not sure where this should go.

Dad is getting deaf in his old age, he has just got some new, flash hearing aids that are rechargeable and have bluetooth built in.

The cordless phones are HAC ( Hearing aid compatible ) and he is struggling to hear the caller. He finds it better to have on speakerphone.

I know we can pair his mobile to the hearing aids.

I know there are cordless phones that pair to your cellphone so you can make / receive calls that way. Does anyone know if Bluetooth hearings aids can be paired with these cordless phones?

Is there anyone out there doing this?

Dad does not have, nor wants a smart phone otherwise I would set him up on my home 3CX as a DDI and extension.

Any other ideas welcome.

Cheers

John

There are cordless phones that will pair with bluetooth headsets.  I guess they'd probably work - but it's an expensive experiment.  A gotcha may be if how it pairs the microphone - at a complete guess when paired maybe the mic in the phone is disabled, whether the mics in the aids are used or not - who knows? TBH I'd probably want to go into the retailer at a quiet time of day and see if you'd be able to test it in store - or if they'd offer a return if it didn't work.  His audiologist might have an answer or recommendation too.

I hate to say it, but a smartphone may be the best option.  Family member here has a new hearing aid which would be next to useless without an app on a smartphone.  There isn't even an on-off switch on the device.  If you want to turn it off you can remove the battery, but to change volume, change sound profiles etc, the phone app is the only way to do it.  Seems to be the way things are going.

I did see those but missed the pairing with headset so they possibly are a go.

even if it uses the phone mic that would be ok.

I will see if anyone else has and feedback, he is in Hamilton and I am in Auckland.

Unfortunately the Dect doesn't work on the latest Marvel and Paradise from Phonak.
