I have an Arlo base station provided by Spark with some cameras, and just wondered if anyone else had come across this oddity I have been experiencing. If I plug the base station into a certain power point it runs normally. If I run it thru a UPS it flashes red constantly as if to say it can't connect to cameras - this also happens if I plug it into other certain outlets. I'm a bit stumped with this - I'm an electrician, though not a total expert in electronics, and I haven't wired anything odd, the UPS is running on 50Hz as are the outlets in my house. Has anyone else had similar? I've tried googling but I'm not getting any hits on this

[edit]

I should add I have several devices running off the UPS just fine including a router, Fibaro home center 3, and other things without issue

What sort of UPS is it?  What output waveform does it produce?  There are some devices that really, really do need a normal sine wave AC supply to work properly, and a cheap UPS is often quite far from a sine wave.

Hi,

I didn't go for the cheapest, it's an online UPS

PSCE1000 POWERSHIELD Centurion Tower 1000VA/ 800W. Double Conversion True Online

Says pure sinewave output on the specs - I was wondering if the power supply for the Arlo was a bit dodgy because as I said it will do the same thing with various outlets around the house

Update, swapped the AC adapter and it now works fine with the UPS

Wonder if I can get a replacement for the adapter only

My base station occasionally flashes amber indicating it can’t connect to the cameras. It’s plugged directly into an outlet, but every time it happens everything is still actually working so I just ignore it and it'll go back to blue again.

Yeah, mine does that from time to time, but with the UPS it just wouldn't go steady blue ever with the supplied power adapter... Now wondering if that issue will also go away

That's essentially a very powerful switchmode power supply, could it be that it's putting out enough switching hash that it's affecting the Arlo?

Not really sure to be honest, but it hasn't done the random flashing since I changed the adapter over either, so whatever it was it's fixed :D I wondered about interference etc but no other electronics had any issues
