As of this morning I cannot get my multiple bulbs in the house to work with Google.  Google says the service is not available at the moment.  I can still use them with their own app though.  I have tried removing them from Google Home and relinking them but it seems the service just isnt working.  Anyone else experiencing this?  I see their brilliantsmart.co.nz website is no longer running either.

Yeah, we've lost Google connection with Grid Connect (Bunnings-purchased) and Smarter Homes (Dick Smith/Kogan) devices today - makes a change, as it was Mi that was the problem child last week.

Far from an expert in this area, but I think all of these brands are Tuya-based, so that could be where the issue lies?

connect these using tuya app.

just checked. works, but delay is about 20-30s... i'm sure it was pretty much instant.

When I try to reconnect the Smarterhomes account in Google Home I see it's trying to connect to 'px1.tuya.com', so will connecting directly via the Tuya app actually solve the problem?

That worked perfectly for me.  No delay - pretty much as it was before.  Will save me a few headaches :)

This is why anything except local control of smart home devices is stupid.
Especially these low cost ones, if you aren't paying for the platform, the platform is running on the absolute bare minimum and is going to stop at some point.

Local HA install, linked to Google/Amazon for that single point of config (and failure if the giants change anything).

Thanks for calling people like me stupid!

Sure, I am 'stupid' to the extent I don't have the skillset (nor have the time to gain the skillset) to set up HA, but given I do want the benefit of smart devices in my home I accept the risk of going with a setup that's dependent on these other systems. It's frustrating when it does go wrong, but it's not the end of the world...
