Hi

I'm in the market for a new heat pump clothes dryer for around the $1,500 to $2,000 mark.

The options I'm currently looking at are:
- Samsung DV80T5420AW
- Bosch WTR85T00AU
- Westinghouse WDH804N7WA.

Keen to hear any thoughts or recommendations to help me decide - I'm struggling to find helpful reviews online.

Thanks!

I have this LG - https://www.harveynorman.co.nz/whiteware/laundry/clothes-dryers/lg-8kg-heat-pump-dryer-white.html

been happy with it, can be "plumbed" so drains into the sink like the washing machine vs storing it in the catchment for draining (installers didn;t install it properly, but was easier enough to change the plumbing on the back)

We've had the same model (LG DVH5-08W) for a little over 2 years now and would certainly recommend it. Very power efficient, quiet, and the notifications to the app work well. It's fairly easy to integrate into Home Assistant too.

Smart features on a dryer might seem a bit crazy but if you don't hear the little jingle it plays when its finished, the notifications are actually very handy.

Can't help you much, but that Samsung appears on Consumer, if you have access?
Have you checked to see if they are on productreview.com.au?

I've been happy with my AEG heat pump dryer, over five years old, just had the motor bearings replaced outside of warranty. Apart from AEG being less than helpful when we called, Harvey Norman arranged repair without needing to state CGA.

I recently bought an 8lg Kogan condenser dryer for just $600. Best purchase ever. This is coming from a GE dryer that was literally cooking our clothes.

No more condensation. Dries perfectly. Doesn't "burn" the clothes either when it is done.

It goes to show price and brand doesn't necessarily determine quality.

Just my two cents, based on this experience I will never buy a dryer over 1k.

Agree big time, we've had ours for about two years too, and it's great. Not a single complaint. It was easy to plumb the output hose (included) into our laundry sink too, so we don't have to empty anything.

Bonus points if you can get the drying rack included, it's very handy for drying shoes.

The smart stuff is great if you have a matching washing machine too, as the two units talk to each other and the dryer can automatically choose a cycle based on what the washing machine just did.

Does the LG reverse tumble? The Consumer report says yes but the 2 one star customer reviews complain that it doesn't. Often the most useful part of Consumer are the customer reviews based on long term use but some times it's not clear that the reviewers are even talking about the same unit.

Wow, the heat pump driers have come down in price. The F&P vented drier is around $1200, the Westinghouse heat pump drier is $100 more, even the Bosch heat pump drier is only $1800.

Interesting how there are a  lot of people raving about heat pump dryers, only a year or so ago it was complete opposite people saying that after three hours they were still damp etc.

I have the same one and it does reverse tumble. Only sporadically but it's enough - I haven't had balled/tangled sheets once in about six months of ownership with 4-5 cycles per week. Amusing because basically all the negative reviews say it can't dry sheets. I have no idea what they're doing.

Mighty Ape. Since it's Kogan branded I am sure you can buy from them too.

Condenser dryer is the way to go. Awesome - much better than heat pump dryers that take hours and hours and you end up still with soggy clothes.

Put it this way, I have never been more pleased and excited (who would've thought you could be excited about this) about my purchase.

No wifi, no app, just gets clothes dry well. That's what you want to spend your money on.

I know where you're coming from, but the part that excites me the most about my dryer is seeing virtually no bump in my power bill after putting six loads through in a single day. It's a total game changer - I hardly hang anything out anymore.
