I need to replace some old Hue lights. Requirements are...

Zigbee

Home Assistant compatible

Colour

E27 pref but not essential.

Any alternatives that are a bit easier on the wallet? I tried a few from Aliexpress but they had trouble putting out the required colour.

Thanks.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

I've been using Moes Zigbee GU10 bulbs from AliExpress.

Admittedly they are for exterior lights, so dont use colour that much, but have been happy with the brightness and build quality.

I'm switching back to Hue. Have tried some cheaper ones and have had various issue. Now just buying once, crying once.

Not sure about Zigbee I think they're WiFi, but these Athom ones work with HA. Good brand, haven't tried the lights.

Plenty of decent wifi options, Athom, Mi-home, Wiz (particularly local control), Nanoleaf (thread not Zigbee) etc

Not aware of any decent Zigbee based alternatives in NZ.

You’re not alone. I did the exact same. It works well.

I'm going with Hue for where I want dimming and/or colour. I then want to use the rest of my existing investment in non-smart LED lights and embedding a Shelly 1 relay into the light switches. I'm about to start the Shelly adventure so we'll see how this works.

I would recommend another brand but I'm all in on Hue for all of the reasons outlined above. Another option to consider is substituting out your wall switch for a smart switch. This avoids the need to replace your existing lights.
