So, I had an ipod synched to an old laptop, which didn't quite survive a trip to India.  I had my music backed up, so no worries.  However, I got a new laptop, downloaded itunes, and connected my ipod- didn't do any autosynching or anything- but when i turned on the ipod the next day- BAM- not a single song.  However, my ipod says that still 20 GB of storage is being used.  Is there a way for me to get to the music???  The problem is i'm living in a different country from where my backup is (New zealand/usa), so i really don't have acces it for 10 months.

anyone know how to deal with itunes?  and it's synching issues??

please help!

the music and stuff is obviously still on the ipod, you can get to it using a computer and its easy but this depends on the ipod.if you have iphone or ipod touch im pretty sure your screwed, itunes wont let you access the ipod thorough windows explorer because of security and stuff. if its any other ipod this should work.
only for windows computers btw
just plug in the ipod, open my computer, tools, folder options, go to view tab, make sure hidden files are shown, click ok
back to my computer, open the ipod, open the folder ipod control, then music, and all your music should be in the folders F01 and so onfrom there you CUT and paste these folders to your desktop and add them to itunes again to resync your music
you will loose the play counts and stuff like that but if your not going to be seeing your music for 10 months i think its worth it.
i tried my best, i doubt anyone can top that
tell us how it goes bro :]

thanks for your help.....

when i go to my computer- i can't find the 'tools' button.  there's a properties button that has a tools tab, but under it no folder options.  under the 'control panel' button there's a back up and restore options- but nothing for hidden files.  there's also an 'administrative tools' but it doesn't seem to lead anywhere.

sorry i'm very computer illerate.   any thoughts?

yeah depends on what operating system you have. XP or Vista? for either of these this should work.if you cant see the menu bar with file edit view and so on all you have to do is push the "ALT" button on you keyboard and then go across to tools and continue on from there. ive got more ideas but try that for starters good luck

Its not a button, but a pull down menu, from the menu bar
