If anyone needs a bin file to try FlightRadar24 on a lilygo-t-display-s3, let me know. I've just tweaked the code for my ESP32 TTGO-Display module to run on my new S3 display and it looks awesome. S3 is not officially supported yet as it's waiting to be merged into the main branch https://github.com/rzeldent/esp32-flightradar24-ttgo/tree/feature/lilygo-t-display-s3

This is so cool. I am not familiar with this device / tech.

I assume you just need a wifi connection?

And what else can you display on it?

Yeah, it's pretty neat. It uses the FlightRadar24 API to pull info from surrounding aircraft. You just connect the ESP32 to your WiFi and add a couple of settings and the code does the rest. It's cool being able to hear a plane and look up and see what it is.

I am intrigued but totally ignorant on this thing of which you speak. I probably misunderstand what this is all about but why do you do this when there’s a FR24 app available for you to see this info on phones etc?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Where I live it would just be pinging with the police helicopter all the time.

Who wants to pull their phone out and open and app when it can just be displayed in real-time on your desk. 😁

So what determines what plane shows? Proximity to a set airport or?

Keen to see a video of this display on action if you don't mind!

In settings screenshot above. It's the vertical and horizontal distance you program from your defined lat/long location. Video wouldn't be too exciting. The screen just shows what's in my screenshot except the the text scrolls if it doesn't all fit. If no planes are around, it simply says "No flights in range".

What's the original hardware support for it? Ideally I would like to see it on a cheap yellow display or similar so that it can plot things and draw the path of them for when the police one is circling so I can see what part of the hood its over.

The project is only designed for the mini displays but the website should provide you with what you're looking for as that keeps a track of where the aircraft has been (as does the app). You might be able to run the app in kiosk mode on an Android tablet.

It's a little... Odd.

Flightradar24: "We do not have a public API and do not let customers access data without a commercial agreement '

Python and gadget coders 'use this Flightradar24 api hack....'

(Believe It's basically someone whos worked out how to extract the data it gets from website queries and scraping it.. which is kinda against their t&c)

There is also a number of them with various views for PI and ledmatrix setup.
