Giant Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer TCL has just been caught selling quantum dot TVs with no quantum in them.  What makes this interesting is that it took specialised tests in million-dollar labs to tell this was the case (the tests were comissioned by a competitor to TCL).  Which leads to the inevitable question: If only a specialised test lab can tell the difference between a quantum and quantum-less TV, why pay more for one?

(the tests were comissioned by a competitor to TCL).

The article says differently "Hansol Chemical, a Seoul-headquartered chemicals company, commissioned the testing. SGS, a Geneva-headquartered testing and certification company, and Intertek, a London-headquartered testing and certification company, performed the tests."

Hansol Chemical makes QD displays.

The article says differently...Hansol Chemical makes QD displays.

Also from the article:

As mentioned above, Hansol is in the chemical manufacturing and distribution business. It notably does not sell to TCL but does have a customer in TCL rival Samsung.

So perhaps not directly a TCL competitor, but a supplier of a competitor.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. Remove the "The article says differently". I was pointing out how the company is involved in the segment.
