Hi

I got a email from Costco which has 8 x Reolink P334 Dome cameras and a 2TB poe nvr for $999.  Anyone got experience with these?  What’s the good and bad?  What’s the detection accuracy like?

Will be using it at home to let us know when someone is around so reliable detection is a priority.  Currently have 1 Eufy Solocam S40 which is pretty unreliable as far as detection goes.

Only really need 2 or 3 cameras so I could sell the excess to recoup some of the outlay.

Cheers

Mike

Yep. No worries with Reolink.

They’re fine, decent value and do the job, but personally I’d not buy again. Very much consumer grade equipment. I wish I’d stuck with Amcrest, which I found far better from both a quality hardware and setup perspective.

Thanks for the replies.  I will have a look at them and decide.  It sounds like they will do what I want.

I bought some a while back so things may be better now, but they were more expensive than the dirt cheap aliexpress xmeye ones I had got up to that point, but image and stuff seemed no better.

I was more trusting of putting a somewhat branded camera onto a network where I couldn't manage vlans etc than the no brand aliex ones.

Thanks for all the replies.  I have changed my mind and I’m looking at getting a couple of Dahua cameras from Aliexpess.  Anyone had experience buying these from there?

I've had a Reolink 4K turret cam & NVR kit (RLK8-800D4) installed since mid 2021 and haven't had any issues with it at all. I find the phone app to be easy to use, and the quality of the cameras is decent enough for their price-point.

I also have a Reolink PoE doorbell, and it just works without any isssues either.

My parents have a Reolink camera which uploads footage 24/7 to the NVR at my place even though they're in the opposite island to me. It works great, and there's a MicroSD card installed too which records motion events locally if the internet connection ever fails.

Overall, I think the Reolink system is fine for the majority of use-cases. Of course it's not the best, but the price reflects that too. The smart motion detection filters are very handy to be able to scrub through real detections, and no false positives of generic motion. They're also pretty good at releasing firmware updates regularly.
