Hi guys,

Looking to get a new keypad for our garage door and stumbled onto this from Aliexpress.

It appears that it's universal, and works on all brands.

When programed, does the garage door unit transmit all the codes onto the remote, and that's why these remotes are universal and brand agonistic?

The big black or blue things in the image are relays. This works by connecting to the wired button connections on the garage door opener. When you enter the code, a signal is sent to the receiver. The receiver turns on the relay briefly, making the connection that your wall button normally would, resulting in the door opening or closing. It's possible the keypad may work directly with some 433MHz door openers, but it's far from universal.

A new rolling code keypad would have to sync to your garage rolling code receiver system in some way in order for it to work.

Last time I looked at rolling code systems they had a 16 bit base register plus a 16 bit rolling code register controlled by a PRBS (pseudo random binary sequence).

As @SirHumphreyAppleby says if you buy a rolling code system (transmitter and receiver)  from aliexpress and hook up the relays to your garage door motor control then that would work.

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

I think there are some that does not need a receiver. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/1005006974744273.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.5e2d1802YgQBtQ&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

Has anyone found a generic rolling code remote that will work across a range of local Garage Doors? Across the family we've a range of doors all of which require specific remotes due to the opening mechanism.

I had a look at the one below but it doesn't look like it supports the Chamberlain / Merlin Security+ 2.0 protocol

This one might have the right support

Any suggestions?
