Has anyone had a go with installing Valetudo (https://github.com/Hypfer/Valetudo) on a robo vacuum?

It requires* a custom PCB, I am guessing it's a long shot that someone local might have one I could borrow?

If not, and I end up building one, would there be any interest in this? It's only required for initial setup so good for sharing.

On that note - anyone had experience with PCB manufacture from NZ, any recommended suppliers?

Cheers, ara

*not strictly required but lower risk

I reckon if you're not happy with how robot vacuums operate you're best just vacuuming manually rather than messing about with it.

What a strange reply. Of course I could simply not do this but it sounds like a fun project !

Had a cursory look at this project a while back but looked a like a lot of effort for not a lot of return. Was hoping that a few more matter certified vacs may appear that would support local (as opposed to cloud) control.

I made some Dreame PCB's and successfully installed valetudo my Vacuum-Mop 2 Ultra. It wasn't overly difficult. I ordered the PCB's from PCBway and all the parts to populate it from Aliexpress, took a few weeks to arrive but worked out in the end.

Has only done a few cleaning passes so far, and i haven't yet configured all the map but its very nice not to have to worry about Xiaomi changing their login so home assistant stops working ever again!

I have two spare (pending testing) that I'd be happy to send to someone on the presumption they will either send it back or pass it on to the next person who wants to de-cloud their robot.

I’d love to borrow (or buy) one of your spares if possible. I’ve just upgraded to one of the supported Dreame models. My old Gen1 Xiaomi was able to be rooted OTA but looks like it will be a bit more involved this time.

Received both my robot (Dreame L10S for $680 on special from amazon au) and the Valetudo PCB from SanchoNZ today. Happy coincidence!

I'd been studying the Valetudo guide and so run through it today and now have a working local-only robot. Did the house map and it's first clean, so far me and (more importantly ) my wife are fairly happy with its performance.

Big thanks to the legend SanchoNZ. If anyone else needs a Valetudo PCB please reach out and I'd be happy to send it to you.

Similar story here.

Managed to get Valetudo up and running on a Dreame L10s Pro Ultra Heat.
Thanks for the board SanchoNZ, it made it pretty simple to setup in the end.

Much nicer having it run directly from home assistant again without needing the internet and their app.
The PCB board I used is also surplus now if anyone needs one.
