Hi

We've got a potential humidity problem with a client's home office environment and we may need to gather data to support a request for changes to be made. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive solution that would allow us to remotely monitor an office and a storage area?  The two spaces are a single timber wall apart, and there is good Wi-Fi coverage.  There is a 30mm wall penetration, so connecting an additional sensor via cable is definitely an option.

I don't think it's likely we'll need a long term solution.  I use a Sensibo at home and could potentially purchase two of these (and resell them later).

All thoughts welcome!

Tuya zigbee or bluetooth sensors off aliexpress and a tuya gateway to suit them. Probably do it for under $25-30 all up.

Yolink sensors with a hub. It's a good system, works well.

If the measurement data is to stand up in court, you can forget about all that cheap Chinese junk. You need calibrated measuring devices/sensors for that.

- NET: FTTH & VDSL, OPNsense, 10G backbone, GWN APs
- SRV: 12 RU HA server cluster, 0.1 PB storage on premise
- IoT:   thread, zigbee, tasmota, BidCoS, LoRa, WX suite, IR
- 3D:    two 3D printers, 3D scanner, CNC router, laser cutter

In this case calibrated measurements are not required, but thanks for the thoughts.

do you need remote it? or would simply storing it be ok. then pick the sensor up and download it. there is a fair few dataloggers out there for that.

also i would add a 3rd, put one outside. track the change in humidity. that will show roughly how badly the office is connected to outdoors.

I was going to suggest exactly that. You'll get cheaper solutions but will burn time to source and implement.
