Has anyone bought these ones - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0DNXMZ5J1 or https://smartsetup.com.au/product/matter-over-thread-certified-four-gang-wall-switch-ms0q/ (Amazon is more but has the free shipping promos)

They look like any other cheap aliexpress grade switch, which IME have all had crappy relays in them that stick when driving a large number of LED lamps.

Will require a neutral wire - is that usually not present in the switches in a light circuit?

Unless it has the right documentation saying it is legal in NZ, it can be seized by customs on arrival, and is illegal to use in NZ.  Anything for mains power must be properly certified - without being certified, you can not be sure is it not going to burn the house down or electrocute you.  There is an endless variety of crap product out there!

If it is sold locally in Australia, it may be OK for NZ due to our joint standards, but always check first!

In practice Customs only seize specifically prohibited items such as illegal RF transmitters.
Uncertified electrical goods shouldn’t be installed in your house though. At best they could cause issues in a presale house inspection, especially if they’re unusual. At worst they could cause a fire and lead to insurance claim being denied.

I am aware of the requirements. I want to know about peoples experiances if they have got them.

At the moment, the wall switches are all wifi ones, and the lightbulbs are zigbee, that way the network to the wall switches doesnt fall apart when I turn the power to the lightbulbs off to save power.

I am wanting to get the switching of them to be independent of wifi, so I can start to cut off some of the networking gear when I am away to again, save power. Rather than build a separate zigbee network I figured it would be a good idea to get into matter over thread as I have now sorted out why it has given me so much drama by moving my border routers all onto the same vlan.
