Trying to help my sister move her music from her iPhone to her laptop.  She currently uses her iPhone with the family's computer, along with her 4 kids and her husband.  I d/l iTunes to her laptop, but when i try to sync the stuff on her iPhone with iTunes on her laptop, it says the sync will erase all the data on the iPhone.  Clearly I don't want that.  Not sure if Apple is making this difficult on purpose, or if I'm just not getting something here.  Any help would be appreciated.

The sync is only one way (i.e. from iTunes to the iGadget). Can't you just copy the files from the family computer to the laptop via the network? If the files are only on the iPhone, you need to investigate 3rd party solutions.

Apple does this to counter piracy, to stop you transfering your music to your mates computer etc. There are ways around it, but as stated you need a third party media manager.

Got Songbird, but can't for thelife of me get anything from my current iTouch to sync with it. Oy. Dowloaded support for iPods from the add ons too.
