hey

i want to know what type of HDD enclosures are out that can be used for media players as well.

i want one that i can carry to and fro from my house an bach and just plug into a stereo.

and another question

dont know if anyone would be able to help me

i would preferably like to be able to make a small screen for it say at most 4 inches that i can use to scroll and choose folders or whatever to pick what to play

just wondering if there are any HDD media players like that or would there be an easy way to build this.

also anyone ever come across HDD car headunits that i could adapt to this purpose

looking to run a 500 gb HDD and would like it to run MP3 and WMA capabilities or just MP3s

thanks

Rod

If you goto Pricespy, look for external HDDs, then search for media players
You'll find a few Western Digital ones that would do the job. For 500gb though you'd most probably be looking for either an expensive laptop style 2.5" enclosure(without screen with maybe 5 or so buttons) or an expensive 3.5" enclosure with extra AC adapter and small LCD screen

I have one like this.

Bought it for $50 without HDD including postage and I love it, but it does not play files bigger then 1.5Gb :( Otherwise, perfect for oldish CRT TV's... even 32" lcd is fine, but no HDMI.

cool did you buy it off trademe for 50

and not worried about playing any large files just music off it so it should be alright for that

so does it have a menu when it is connected to a tv or screen

also if i just wanted to play music can i connect it to a stereo directly and just press play without having a screen
