Okay. i'm quite annoyed and frustrated...

I have tried sync'n videos and dvr-ms with my Creative PMC, and it keeps giving me error saying cannot play the file... (can't remember the rest)

But I don't think that error is the actual error as it is not a streaming video etc.

Anyhow, when the dvr-ms and a few mpeg/avi transferred to another pc's harddisk and WMP10-sync with it, the sync success.

Weird thing is, audio sync is fine on my MCE2005 PC, just not any videos.

HELP!

the MCE2005 PC is an HP m7199a with Pentium D 3.0GHz and 1GB and 160GB hdd and GeForce6600.

This MCE2005 PC has been anything except smooth sailing, as it plays DVD very badly and jerky while in Media Center and WMP10, but not when in CyberLink PowerDVD6. Even when the preferred MPEG2 decoder is selected for CyberLink for Media Center and WMP10. Then EPG doesn't exist! :-(

But for now, I would like to utilise Pentium D's dual core to transcode dvr-ms and videos for transferring to my PMC!!! It just won't work!

Mauricio, could you please check with the PMC/MCE MVPs and see if this is a known issues? I have searched and to no avail. all MVPs seem to keep suggesting the same and said that it works fine with MCE, but some us just can't get Recorded TV and Videos sync!!!!!!!!! HELP!

Kel.

This is what I've got from another Microsoft MVP:

"I would have him start with contacting HP and seeing what the recommended DVD Decoder is for his XPMCE system is and this should solve all his issues. He should probably have the NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder (formerly called the NVIDIA DVD Decoder) that came with his system to start with.

He can also purchase it separately from NVIDIA's website if needed. The latest version can also be upgraded via the OEM Update Kit, latest version I have is 1.02-185 from 11.04.05. A valid activation key is needed and should have been bundled with the HP XPMCE or may be on a restore/install CD. If it isn't with the system it can be obtained from HP. I know some people had compatability issues, myself included, with XPMCE 2005 Update Rollup 2 and the latest version solved these issues.

It looks like this person is having an issue with his video decoder, especially if he is having problems watching DVDs via his media center. They should be able to uninstall it and reinstall the latest version and see if that fixes their video problems.

Syncing is actually done via Windows Media Player 10 where the video source is transcoded to a wmv file and played on the PMC, no real big difference from XP and XPMCE except for the GUI interface MCE provides. If the correct codecs for playing the video are present it should encode it with no problems. If he wishes to manually encode the video via windows encoder9 the resulting video will actually be transcoded twice resulting in a grainer video when played on the PMC. Also f the input video is flawed the output will also be flawed, which may be his/her problem."

Since I am not a MCE user I hope this makes sense to you...
