Not sure exactly where to post this - so feel free to move it if need be!

Does anyone know if you can share books between Kindle devices?

If I buy one for me and one for my wife, can we both read the same library or would you have to buy the books twice?

If you both have the same amazon account, I _assume_ you can share the same books, although publishers can set the limits to kind/number of devices.

So (I think, not 100%) you might have books that will work on two kindles and an android phone, but some might not because the publishers are dicks.

If you have two accounts you will have to buy your own books. One think eReaders will do is to increase sales by reducing the ability for users to borrow books.

On the other hand, I bought a book from the Amazon Kindle library for about $15, while the same book at Whitcoulls was $45... So even if you both have to buy the book each it'd still be cheaper.

So what happens if "I" buy 2 Kindles - say one for home and one for the office? Can I put "my" books on both of them?

Yes, and it'll keep them synced if you leave sync on..
(ie, where you've red up too, etc)

So if there are two different people using two kindles on the same account, you might want to disable sync if you're both reading the same books ;)

Although I believe publishers can specify what/how many devices books you've purchased through amazon can be used on.

It's like Apple iTunes movies... You can play your movies and different PCs, providing you use the same account in all of them and authorise them. Apple limits to five simultaneous authorisations. I guess Amazon does the same.

I believe you don't have to buy the same book twice for two separate kindle devices; all you need to do is to use the same amazon account; you do have to register both kindle devices under the same account though. Under Manage Your Kindle page, you could actually register more than one kindle under the same account by inputting the serial number separately. I don't know how many kindle devices are allowed to be registered under one account though.

BTW, looks like the new Kindle is already temporarily sold out now on Amazon!!!

Yep the first pre-order run sold out already, I pre-ordered mine on saturday.. said it'll be delivered around the 8th of september..
