How come ebooks in NZ are available from Whitcoulls but not from the Apple iBooks store?

Is there an exclusive deal between the publishers and Whitcoulls or something along those lines that is stopping iBooks from getting paid content?

and from today, paid content on iBooks is available in Australia.

Publishers vs apple. Same thing happens in the AP kindle store.

Yep it's pretty frustrating!
Please let me legally and easily purchase content!!!
Parallels with The Daily Show... there's NO legal way to view on TV in NZ now... so I watch on the site, in parts, annoying, or download the torrent.

Cheers,
Joseph

The iBooks app may be preferred over the Kindle for iApp by some, but ultimately the Kindle store is going to have hundreds of thousands more books than the iBookstore will ever have in the short to medium term, even if they do open in NZ.

Currently in the US I believe that the number of Kindle titles eclipses the iBookstore.
