I currently have a 60GB iPod Video, and I think a deal with a friend is going to see a 512MB Shuffle turn up here soon.

I am thinking about selling the 60GB on Trademe (they go for stupidly high prices - often more than new ones on Trademe do!), and use the proceeds to buy a 30GB Video, and a 1 or 2 GB Nano.

Then I would have the Video for home use (attached to my home theater through an Apple dock), for my main music listening, the Nano for use in the car with my iTrip Auto (250 - 500 of my least recently played 4 & 5 star songs would be fine in the car), and a shuffle for truly portable use (cycling, couching etc).

The 60GB Video is really nice, and was a welcome upgrade from my 60GB Photo, but really I think it is too bulky to be really portable. Its okay for say, trips in the car, but a pain for cycling with, and really unusable while im working outside on the house or grounds (whereas a shuffle would be perfect).

Do other music geeks have multiple players? If so, which ones, and why?

I bought a first generation iPod about three years ago, and later upgraded to a second generation model. During 2004, I found that I wasn't really using it, so I sold it on Trademe but I started to miss it after a few months so I bought a Shuffle when they were released at the start of 2005. About six months after I bought the Shuffle, I decided that I wanted something more flexible so I bought a 20GB fourth generation model. It's the version with a monochrome display, and I got a good discount on it as I bought it when the monochrome models were discontinued in favour of the 'photo' models.

I still have both the Shuffle and the 20GB, but I don't ever really use the Shuffle any more. I find that the 20GB is portable enough to use anywhere where I need it.

I have a Windows Mobile Portable Media Center (Creative Zen PMC, 20GB). I also have a small Creative player 128MB)... I don't use them much, because I am always in front of a PC anyway...

Went looking for iPod Nanos today.... could only find 4GB black ones.
I want a 4GB White for the house, and a 2GB Black for the car.

Crazy that they are still in such short supply!

I have a 4GB Black Nano, but find I don’t use it as much as my Sanyo 5600 for music, but that will most likely change as I move towards using my Nokia 6265 as my primary phone rather than my tandem.

i have my i-pod mini for an year and a half and i am perfectly satisfied with it ...i am thinking of buying nano ,but to be honest i am very attached to mine ...it is green ,cute and i really like it ...i dont think nano makes that much of a difference, it is a new generation ,but it somehow gives a new different meaning to the whole conceprt..i can not imagine when i will have time and desire to watch clips on my i-pod...i just find it strange

I have a 20gig 3rd Gen iPod.

As nice as the newer iPods are, I don't see any reason to upgrade/change at the moment.

Plus I went to the special effort of getting:

Do Not Eat!
tim@muppetz.com

Engraved on it.

Why my email address? It's the only thing that's stayed the same in the last 4 years!

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

We recently got a Creative Vision M-30Gb.
Pros-seems more flexible in formats compared to I pods
Nice device but is a bit bulky
I sometimes put a few mp3's into my jasjar to listen as the "other half" also uses the Creative Zen
I might also add it appears to be difficult to find accessories for it. Cases in particular.
I know some Belkin products are ok
