My wife has a Kindle 3 and we are trying to recall what charger cables etc came with it. We have white USB cable that fits the Kindle (that we think came with it) but we can't remember if it also came with a mains plug/adapter or not.

We thought we had a charging problem just now but it seems OK. We are charging it with my Samsung Galaxy S charger - but are now wondering what originally came with it? I have googled this and the US 'what's in the box' show a USB cable and a wall adapter but I can't recall an adaptor with ours.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

It comes with just a white USB cable.

Yeah the NZ/AU power adaptor has only recently (In the last 3 or 4 months) been able to be bought by us and even then it's an extra, not part of the default package.

I just use an old iPod usb wall wart charger or my Nexus1 cable when I can't find my white one.

Thanks MF.

Looking at the mains/USB adaptor that came with my iPad 2 - it seems pretty grunty. Would charging the Kindle using: Apple mains adapter > USB cable > Kindle, be OK?

Any 5v adapter/charger will do, most are rated 500mA to 1A which is fine.

Mine just cable with the white USB cable, but I can charge it off my PC fine along with several mains->USB adaptors. (HTC, vodafone 845 one, etc)
It just takes longer to charge, usually.

Apple do some 'clever stuff' with their charger. This video may be useful  http://vimeo.com/13835359
