Mine is currently in the build phase - so not exactly finished. Keen to also see people either completed or in progress builds as well (In another/individual threads perhaps)

at the moment mine consists of a logitech harmony 1000i in one room... but we're about to purchase a house that i'm hoping to get some automation set up in when we renovate.

beyond A/V, lighting and climate control: what other toys can be integrated easily in NZ?

I am also in the middle of a new build. I am gonna run CAT6 everywhere (as per Cyrils advice) which I hope should future proof me for most things. Apart from that I am not looking to do anything too fancy with lighting control - I did look into http://www.pmb.co.nz/ a while back as it looked like a cost effective system that could be installed and upgraded at a later date as/when required. However the owners were not very forthcoming with help or advice so I decided to shelve it.

So no lighting control, but I will be having a fully distributed video and audio system. As for control of the audio/video I am hoping something like the RedEye Pro might be the ticket. I already have the standard RedEye and it works reasonably well. I will be looking to upgrade to an Ipad which I intend to use to control my RedEye.

The RedEye Pro looks like a major step forward with the ability to drive IR blasters and RS232, as well as control multiple zones etc.

Would be very interested to hear other peoples thoughts or ideas for this sort of thing as all this is by no means set in stone.

We have a Colorado vNet system in our shop/office.
I don't own a house so haven't bothered to install one in the rental.

We only use it for lighting control and audio but you can control CCTV cameras, hvac and security systems all from one of their touchscreens.
I still need to get an iPad to try out their ap they have for that.

I imported the system myself and also did the training on programing and commissioning with a view to sell the products here in NZ but with the recession it just never happened.
Colorado vNet have also since been bought by Russound and the NZ Russound distributor is now looking at bringing it into NZ in the next few years.
