I have been looking at the Kindle 3 covers on Trademe and there seems to be two options, either a leather 'folder' type, or a skin. I dont really travel with it so it is mainly around home, just concious of dropping it on the tiles or outside

I have a skin on my phone and quite like the protection that offers but I also like the look of the folder type (for enclosing it if I needed to stick it in a bag) but wonder about whether they would be a pain in just general use (holding wise).

Does anyone use either of these options and would like to make a recommendation

I realise at the end of the day it will come down to personal preference.

I got one of the cases that Amazon made / sell for it and it works fine as well. However the one that magu posted looks quite similar and prob a bit cheaper so may be worth checking out.

The wife has a stick on cover for hers which she likes and might help it stop getting scratched etc but I prefer just having the proper case for it without a stick on cover.

I have the one from dealextreme for my kindle3, it works great!
(And way cheaper than the amazon ones)

I bought the leather-look cover from Amazon that includes a reading light. The first generation of these had issues but second generation seem fine. I havent had any issues with mine. The light pulls out and runs off the Kindle battery. Mine tends to do double duty as a torch at night ;)

My Kindle has been dropped a couple of times and survived well. Those covers do add a bit to the bulk though and make it harder to read in landscape mode. The only time mine comes off is then the Kindle goes into a map case for waterproofing while reading in the bath.
