Hello folks!

Just a heads up that I have updated our Amazon Kindle order page now, adding the new Amazon Kindle models.

Note that only Amazon Kindle Keyboard models and the new Amazon Kindle are available for shipping outside the US. Amazon Kindle Touch and Amazon Kindle Fire are only available for sale in the US, but all models work around the world (you can have it shipped to a US address and forwarded to you here).

Also note that they are a lot cheaper now!

Kindle Fire looks awesome! I was just thinking about how often I use the GPS and cameras in my ASUS transformer (never!) and it looks like a good move from Amazon.

It is a shame the Fire is not available here. I wonder how long before we see it in other parts of the world. Amazon Prime might see it delayed for some time. The rest of the world is not allowed streaming video.....

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Amazon Fire looks awesome, and for $199.00 that is a bargain. Not sure about using it for reading books compared to the other models the - the e-ink screens really are nice to read.

Will have to wait for some reviews to come out. With Amazon Prime service it would be amazing but it is still a very good deal without it.

The Fire looks tempting... not worried about the streaming side of it, would store some stuff on local storage.

:(

What? Why didn't you buy from us (direct from Amazon)? It's cheaper and takes about five days to land in New Zealand.

Not too late: you can use links on that page to buy the eBooks from us.

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news/2011/09/a-first-look-at-amazons-new-kindles.ars

I'm definitely keen on the fire, I have an original iPad that is over a year old now and have done a tally on what I use it mostly for.

1. Kindle App (Will purchase future books through your link Mauricio)
2. Safari
3. Gmail
4. Comixology app
5. RWC 2011 app

The battery needs a charge every 30 or so hours - the kindle app really thrashes the battery. Will the amazon 3g count towards the amazon cloud services on the Fire? I'm not too concerned about the 8gb internal storage - don't really store much on the 16gb ipad as it is - lots of docos are cloud based...

this is a slap in the face!

Hi, if I order the new kindle touch Wifi , what is the total overall cost in NZD (item + shipping to nz).

It cost USD 79  , so I would hope it's not much more than that. The geekzone page list it as $109.

Also, if there's something wrong with it, would I have to send it back all the way to the states and pay for the shipping etc ? Shipping itself cost almost as much as the item doesn't it ?

The prices are all in US$. The Kindle Touch and Kindle Fire are not available for shipping overseas

The Kindle WiFi is US$109 for international customers, plus shipping. Go through the shopping cart and you will see the shipping costs before you order.

All prices are listed on the amazon.com pages you land on when you click the links. All prices are in US$. We don't sell any of those products, we only link to them and receive an affiliate commission.

 All prices are in US$.

Yes, I understand instant gratification. But the Amazon service is amazing. Ordered two Kindles before (and a new one today) and had the device here in five days.

And it's a lot cheaper too...

The Fire looks absolutely amazing.

A real 'tablet for the rest of us' with all the stuff you want for media consumption without trying to be a jumbo smartphone.

This is what has put me off about buying a tablet so far, it's like my phone but bigger so why buy one?

The Fire is actually lighter than an iPad!

The Prime Service also looks totally amazing. Who needs piracy with something that good? Particularly that you can watch movies on more than one device. Hopefully, that means a Kindle app and account would give you the same access across Fire / phone / PC or Mac / TV.

And the killer is that it is half the price of an iPad!

I don't think this is going to 'beat' the iPad but that is actually the whole point, one probably to be missed by the mainstream press. Instead of trying to copy the iPad and doing a rubbish job like everybody else Amazon did something actually different. People will still buy iPads, but they will also buy the Fire. I'm guessing by the million.

Not bad for a company which started off as a mail order bookstore. Maybe that's what it takes to (can't resist): Think Different.

I'm a tad confused, you can get the new kindle wifi but you have to pay an extra $30 US if you are non-US, and that covers postage? And if you want 3G you have to get the older model with the keyboard if you are non US?

All a matter about how long it will take for Amazon to get the sign off from Studios and Record companies to offer the Prime stuff outside of the States.
