Brumfondl: So, MileHighKiwi... did you hear back from them?

Yes, on Thursday they called and unfortunately I didn't get it, I was pipped at the post and came 'a close second'. Ah well, I gave it a good shot.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the job?  Interested as you referred to it as your dream job earlier :)

Hi mate, it was a marketing role with NZ Rugby.

Hi mate, it was a marketing role with NZ Rugby.

That would have been fun!

Good luck with future ventures.  There is always something better around the corner. :)

If you made it that far, you should be stoked..
It means you have something good to offer and it's now their loss..
Job market is crap at the moment, but keep going because there's work out there..

What do you do?
Maybe some of us might be able to help?

Definitely stoked to get that far. I didn't think I did very well in the first interview so was pleasantly surprised when I was asked back for the second and third interviews.

I work in direct and digital marketing. There isn't a ton of roles at the moment at my level (mid level management); lots of junior roles going, but the ones that are popping up are good quality. I have a couple of other options on the go. I'm not desperate; I have a good job, just want a better one with new challenges!

I'm in the same position.  I have a pretty good job with good pay.  But I hate where I live.  I want to live north of Auckland where it is quiet and cheaper, closer to family..etc, but there is no work up there.

I'm in the middle of starting my own business so I can live where ever I want!

ZSasha: Well, I had even more "interesting" experience.

I went through two interviews in a company and their HR told me I was good and they were happy about me and his (HR) was going to check my references etc etc.

And they DID check my refs(!) and then I was told that some manager went on holiday (it was NY time) and then his top manager went on holiday etc etc etc... so I think TWO MONTHS later I got automatic email from them saying that standard rubbish  like "thank you but you've failed"

Had similar, applied for role, sent CV, got email back to say impressed with CV come on in for interview. Had the interview with the IT manager and the company director, both said I seemed a good fit, they'd get back to me within a week. Didnt hear anything after a week so I called - receptionist told me both people had gone on a months leave.

Never heard back from them at all.
