A quick tip - IT Support and sysadmin is about 20% how much you can retain information and 80% how well you can Google search - so your training starts now!

Thanks for the tip! I can usually find what I'm looking for with Google but this time particularly I'm not. With a search of "Comptia a+ exam booking" within in NZ the best I can find is this: http://techtorium.co.nz/it-certifications/comptia/comptia-exam-booking/ but with no indication of exam pricing.

If someone can suggest how to better search that please feel free!

UDEMY have A+ N+ and a bunch of other course preparation materials for $10-15 each if you want for a special. We have used them to train our juniors in the past.

Thanks but I'm trying to find somewhere to sit the Comptia A+ exam with some indication of pricing...

This is my first post in this forum, and I am glad to be here.

I wish to express my extreme interest to find a job that related to IT Supporter.

I am 28 years old, and I 've got my bachelor and master degree in IT Engineering. I have 3 years technical experience in IT Supporter career in Iran. I was in charge of supporting these: Troubleshooting over phone, Network Maintenance (DHCP,AD,DNS,IP,...), Printers and Scanners Supporting, Windows, MS Office, Adobe, Internet, etc.

I am very happy to mention that I 've submitted my Silver Fern Job Search Visa application.

I am seeking in seek.co.nz now I wonder that is there any chance to get a IT Supporter job in Auckland? If it is possible, kindly advice me what should I do to get a job?

It looks like you're starting off on the right foot by having a bit of experience, and going on job search websites such as seek.co.nz. You'll also know that IT Support roles generally require good verbal communication with each other especially customers/clients. I've also heard that employers generally prefer experience over a degree here, and if you've got both that's good, just make sure to highlight those experiences in your CV. If you've applied for jobs on Seek, I guess it's now more of waiting for a response.

For Skilled Migrant Category immigrants should obtain 160 points. Unfortunately I have 155 points!! That's why I applied for Silver Fern Visa, If I get a job my points will be 205 then I can submit for SMC.

I'm desperate to get some employment next year, I'm looking for change and want to get into IT and I've decided on IT support. It's been said earlier in the thread that I enjoy computers and troubleshooting for people. I'm starting to get a good grasp on CompTIA A+ and will try to sit it when possible.

Is it still recommended that to get into something asap without formal qualifications to approach the big ISP's or look out for their listings that will offer on the job training?

ISP helpdesks will generally never turn down people, long as you can show that you're keen and know the difference between Wifi and CAT6, they'll take you ;)

By "on the job training" if you mean will they help towards network+ or similar, most likely not.

No I meant on job training in relation to how the help desk operates... Are you likely to utilize some aspects of CompTIA in an ISP helpdesk role?
