Just wondering if anyone has seen any available in NZ?

I see lots of SysAdmin jobs that you can work remotely from all over the usa, europe etc but looks like either NZ is too small or it's just not a big thing here..

Are there any Sysadmins that work from home on a consistent basis here in NZ?

Wondering if i'm wasting my time looking around

Yep, there's lot of jobs online that let you work from anywhere in the world... They are all looking for Linux/Devops though, which doesn't help me as a Windows Sys Admin

Yup, friend of mine worked for slicehost (before they were bought by Rackspace) , said it was great for him but the currency conversation got worse and worse over time.

I haven't seen that sort of role advertised very often, but it's pretty commonplace to work remotely once you've established yourself in a role for a while first.  I work about 30% of my time remotely, just depends on the day and how many meetings I have scheduled as to where I work.  Also tend to work at home more often if I have a heavy workload as I get a lot more done without the distractions in the office.

it will really depend on the company if they permit you and will depend on your role.
I am SydAdmin and been working at home for 7 years now since I got my first child (and second). My boss is happy for me to work at home since our corporate company is based in AU (my boss living in AU as well) and other regions in US, UK, Asia. I can do all my task at home which is actually better than I am in office as some users interrupts me with my critical jobs...

Anyway, I am missing working in office as well and I will start working in office when my second child goes to primary which will be next year...
But yeah, there will be some companies looking at staff working at home but probably minimal in NZ.

Do you mean 'could' or 'would'?

When I first became disabled I worked for 3 years from home firstly as an IT Manager then I decided I could not give the role what it deserved and I took the position of SysAdmin/ BusAdmin for about 2 years until I took medical retirement. It was
good and bad to work from home but it had its hurdles but it worked well for he roles. The roles exist but not easy to find.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
