Any reference sites we can have a look at?

(I'm not stalking you - genuinely interested in case any of my clients ask.)

There is so much competition now in this area, that I would suggest specializing in something and joining a company. The website builder systems like squarespace, wordpress, I think have made more basic web design work a thing of the past. People who want web designers tend to want more complicated things that they can't do themselves.

The [Offers and Wanted] forum has specific rules that must be read before posting in said forum.

This line, and I have read the specific rules

Posting in the Offers and Wanted forum isn't availability to new members. Keep posting and you'll get there soon enough! :-)

Keep calm, and carry on posting.
