Win Lotto, relax.....

I enjoyed mobile tech work when I did that years ago, but happy with anything long as its IT based really, like to get my hands dirty with hardware occasionally :)

Would like to avoid multi national's where it take 3 weeks and 10 meetings to decide if its a good idea to install a new network switch in an office. ;)

Hi,

Is Wiri too far south? I have a role that is available now.

I'm in Auckland tomorrow (Friday 25th) interviewing and probably Monday and Tuesday as well.

Yeah unfortunately.... I live in Whangaparaoa so the commute would be a killer :-p Takes just under an hour to Mangere on a weekend ;)

Cheers

Ah, the good old Coast! Even the commute from Stanmore to Rosedale every morning, and back in the afternoon is a real killer..

Bussed to the city for a year, then to Taka for a year when I was doing my diplomas, as much as public transport is convenient and probably cheaper than driving, I just can't not drive anymore.

Hope to have something sorted by end of next week, which would be perfect, I can then relax over the Xmas break in the knowledge Ive got somewhere to go :)

Yea finding work is easy at the moment.  My partner is looking for work in a totally different field to IT, but is finding employers are begging.  I've just finished recruiting for a design job and we found it stupidly difficult to find a quality person that fit our fairly straight forward requirements.  The influx of trash TradeMe enquiries had me in tears trying to find someone with a quality portfolio.

Good luck with finding the right job!

Easy? How depressing.

I find it incredibly difficult trying to get IT support work.

Haven't had a job in 4 years, rejections, rejections.

If you want to, feel free to send me your CV.  I'll go through it and see if I can't make a suggestion or two.  I'll PM you an email address.

Anyone else in a similar situation reading this can feel free to do the same.

My gut feeling with this, is your qualifications aren't quite right or your approach is wrong. To have applied for a lot of jobs and not got any in 4 years, something isn't right with some part of your application.

Have you been upskilling in that time?

I don't mean to be rude with my suggestions.

Nah, it's being female and over 50.

They say, you interview so well. Your skills are great. You're so senior in your IT.

Hah, senior....yes.

You know all the ads where you have to help nana?

Hmm, yes I can understand that would be challenging.

I know this likely isn't what you want to hear and without your C.V I can't make any comments related to your specific skills, but have you considered upskilling in training, so adding another dimension to your skills? This is an area I know a few older female IT people have moved into as in my experience (trying to be VERY careful what I say here) people find it easier to learn from a female and one who has a few years of experience and is a good communicator. We considered offering this as a service but our customer base wasn't quite big enough to have someone on staff full time.
