Dear All,

Hope you guys are doing well.

I would like to understand on how tough to find SharePoint and O365 based project vacancies in NZ?

Is SiteCore and WorkPlace(facebook) the new collaboration tools mostly in NZ companies?

It's been almost a month since I actively seeking SP/O365 roles anywhere in NZ.

But I only get few calls(agencies/head hunters) and 1 client site interview.

I'm holding a WTR visa and having 10+ Years of Experience in SharePoint 2016/2013/2010/2007, Office 365, SharePoint Online, InfoPath Forms, Workflows, PowerApps, Flow, FARM Set Up, Customization in SharePoint, App development in SharePoint, CSOM, JSOM, REST API, OData using JavaScript, XSLT, Web Part Development, SharePoint Branding, SharePoint Framework(spfx),SharePoint Search, OOB Development, Troubleshooting, FARM Analysis, Responsive Design for Master Pages, SharePoint migration to O365.

How are you looking?

SharePoint is very popular in the NZ Enterprise. Most people have never even heard of WorkPlace

Perhaps your CV needs some improvement?

You've got a hell of a lot of skills listed on your LinkedIn page. If your CV is similar you might want to prune it back or move those highly specific technical skills to a separate page. The bits you want to keep are the ones which demonstrate the outcomes of your work -how business processes were improved, how you brought the project in on time, how you managed to work with difficult customers, how you got a failing project team to work together, how you understand records management in SharePoint etc.

SharePoint Online skills will be a growth area because it's a ticking time bomb for organisations using Office 365 who have left Office 365 groups enabled.

Not sure if there are dedicated roles for those skills in a company. Last few companies i worked for had limited customization requirements and stuck to mostly stock. We used confluence more than sharepoint ;)

System integrators probably use those skills more but theres only so many of them in NZ

I'm actively using the following linkedin,seek,trademe and indeed job sites.

Even looking up some technology events like http://canterburytech.nz/events/local-user-groups/

Signed up and attended some meetup groups to meet like minded folks in the industry.

Noticed from day 1 up until today (19/07), only 1 sharepoint/O365 vacancies is added.

I've not checked but it seems weird to me theres only been 1 SharePoint job listed on those job websites in an entire month.

I've read it somewhere that most companies are happy with the off-the-shelf features of O365.

The off-the-shelf features has gone to great lengths from BPOS to O365 maturity level...(i know there are dev opportunities like in microsoft graph api's, O365 group connector,SPx,etc)-but most companies needs are addressed by the off-the-shelf features.

In my opinion...From a dev perspective, we had more opportunities before with SharePoint on prem versus cloud.

I'm suspecting some SP/O365 vacancies are cleared thru employee referrals and does not reached to job sites.

I believe Sitecore and Confluence/Workspace are getting traction in the collaboration space...

I also used to manage Confluence and Google Suites in my previous company...and

would say SP/O365 is more robust enterprise collab tool..:-)

Have a look at this infographic and see the chaos which can be spawned by an end user just creating a Yammer Feed

In this scenario a yammer feed will create a team site no-one in IT is aware of and they can all work away creating and sharing files willy nilly.

Companies like Intergen are doing well developing products like Cohesion for Office 365, so there is definitely demand out there.

I've seen this chaos in my previous company. We have launched Yammer to our 4000++ users last year.

Almost every users will create yammer groups for every discussion.

Microsoft should provide provisioning process for creating yammer groups (governance)

I've seen there portfolio and they did a lot of projects specially on sharepoint/O365 - a large consulting company.

I've noticed one public facing SP project they did in the past.

They don't restrict there public facing SP web services end points to anonymous users.

From a site audit perspective, I would rather hide those web services to anonymous users.
