Hello :)

(if this is the wrong place for this type of post, please move it).

Currently I work full time in Auckland CBD. I like what I do but I wouldn't mind making a little extra money.

As I have two children in afterschool care, giving up work to upskill myself to do something else is not an option (as I still need to have a regular pay coming in), so I'm looking at alternatives to generate a second income.

I remember years ago (in the North Shore Times, anyway) there were those advertisements along the lines of "Work from home! Earn thousands a week!". While I was skeptical as to how realistic they were, they seemed to appear pretty regularly for a long time.

I'm now in a situation where some sort of working from home role would be good. I'm not looking to make millions per week (as nice as it would be) but just an extra $100-$150 a week would be a great help, maybe between 1-3 hours a day.

I have an unlimited fibre connection, so connectivity is not an issue.

Do jobs like this still exist? Are they even for real? I was thinking it was a role along the lines of proofreading or typing out dictation or something.

Anyone doing a work from home job currently (in addition to their main job)?
Any serious suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

Just remember, if its legit, you could be hit with secondary tax depending on the amount etc.

There's a huge number of "Cold Calling" sales based roles that can be done from home casually. One of my previous employers did outward sales this way using a contracted company.

Unsure where exactly you go to find this sort of role though!

Contact some ISPs. My understanding is that 2degrees have some of their contact center staff working from home. It would be far less stressful than making cold calls. As the people on the other end actually want to speak to you.

Be careful with those work from home jobs that don't give any details on what you have to do for the job. They might either ask for upfront payments. Or they might be money forwarding scams.

I know about the secondary tax and I'm okay with it (I have another job that's one day a week currently that I pay secondary tax on) but couldn't expand it further sadly. I do like the suggestions so far though :)

And yes if they ask for money I wouldn't be sending them anything! :D

Mostly service desk/customer service. I have provisioning/billing experience too (is that what you were asking?) :)
