My iphone is connected to telecom, and I still cannot get imessage to work.

Have reset network settings /rebooted/ toggled imessage on/off etc and a combination of those but imessage fails to activate or gets stuck on 'waiting to activate'.

Is this telecom related or apple? I wasn't sure thus posting under apple forum.

Updated to iOS 7.0.3? I had the same issue on 7.0.2, a back up and restore from back up sorted it.

I am on 7.03.

iMessage not activating on first go, so I tried all of the troubleshooting steps that I could find.

One of those, was to disable 3g, then do that activation, but that didn't work either.

So, the last attempt was : turn off imessage/facetime, reset network settings, disabled 3g, rebooted the phone, then, enabled facetime/imessage but it is just stuck on 'waiting to activate'.

As I said, give a back up, wipe and reinstall from backup a bash.

I'm in the same boat.

I've tried all the tricks.

Just installed iOS 7.0.3 without doing any type of restore and set it up as a new iPhone. STILL showing waiting to activate.

Just thinking if its using SMS... My number is a port from Vodafone onto Telecom. Could that be part of the problem...

Although iMessage was working fine on iOS6 for me.

Ported #'s were an issue a long time back, but that was fixed. I think it was more of a provider issue than an Apple issue.

If this an update that is supposed to fix iMessage there is a pretty good chance the servers are a bit overwhelmed due to the millions of devices trying to register for iMessage again.

Last time I turned it on (a long time ago), it took about 1/2 an hour to register.

I had a weird one yesterday when a friend's iMessage was OFF, and you just couldn't slide the toggle across to on.
Did a hard reset (hold power and home, wait until it turns off, wait until it turns on, then off again) which seemed to sort it out then came straight back on (and received about 15 iMessages that had been queuing up over the week).

After a 7.0.3 update today I had a bit of a mission getting imessage, notifications and facetime working.

I saw some stuff about restoring. But I ended up doing a reboot, that didn't sort it, then going to airplane mode. Then it started responding.

But I'd had imessage etc all working before the update and am on 2degress. YMMV

Ask someone in Telecom NZ to check if they can see a response SMS coming back from Apple after imessage is switched on, I would stop hard resetting handsets and resetting network settings I don't think this is going to add any value

I looked into this issue on the Vodafone side when Facetime activation broke and I found the issue quite quickly

No idea who to contact in Telecom about this, so I've started a thread over on the Telecom forum to see if we can get a response from a Telecom representative.

T
here is a recommendation to ring the mobile help desk there. I'll give that a go tomorrow if it still hasn't activated.

Do you (or does Telecom) have a 'premium SMS' blocking service? If they do, that could be breaking it (I know it breaks it on Voda AU if you turn the premium SMS option off)
