Well, it finally happened. I managed to spill tea all over the front of my iPhone 5s.

I'm hoping I reacted quick enough to prevent/minimise damage, and a cursory glance shows that everything appears working as it should, including mic, speakers, Touch ID button & headphone jack. It was also in a case with a raised edge, which helped contain the tea to the front of the device. I am a little concerned there is the possibility of ingress through the front speaker & Touch ID button though.

As soon as it happened, I got some tissues to get the majority of the tea off, and followed it with a wipe down with a damp cloth to hopefully remove the remaining tea residue from the surface.

Is there anything I should be doing/checking to give my phone the best chance of survival? I've powered it down for now, although I did have power to it initially after the Great Tea Incident of 2014 so I could give all functions a cursory test.

I've read that some people recommend putting it in a bag of rice for a period of time. But how effective would this be in this scenario? Could there be potential residue that may be left behind. The tea was your garden variety Choysa teabag stuff, with some trim milk mixed in, but no sugar.
